Mmm...as usual, David, your art is splendid. I do worry that this is more of Marvel trying to copy manga style rather than emulate the things that actually make manga sell well but at least they picked the right artist so I can't complain. I hope it sells lots of copies. I'll put it on my pull list right away.
Thanks, man. Actually, the anime influences were 100% my call, and Marvel was cool enough to go along with it. I figured it made sense with the Japanese theme of the book.
You do the anime look well. All of your art is good, really. I'm really complaining about the way Marvel and some other companies seem keen to capture the manga market but misunderstand it, therefore failing to make the key changes to their book formats that might get them better sales. I didn't mean to mini-rant but the picture got me thinking about that issue and I'm glad that it did so.
Definitely trying something new on this one. The comic's about a team of superpowered operatives from Japan, so we thought it'd be cool to draw it like an anime.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
